Info
Museum Why is a collective institutional mobilisation primarily working with non-institutional practitioners in rethinking and reshaping art institutions. United by a common commitment to approaching institutional change differently, our network continues to find new ways of working, organising, and instituting.
Since our founding in 2020, the Museum Why network has critically assessed the changing role of art institutions in society, emphasizing the need for greater relevance and openness to wider publics. Our collective work is directly motivated by the processes of change that the partner institutions and organisations are undergoing through states of changing, merging, relocating and going nomadic.
Building on our rich collaboration, Malmö Art Museum (Sweden), The Museum of Contemporary Art Roskilde (Denmark), PUBLICS (Finland), EKKM (Estonia), Heine Onstad Kunstsenter (Norway), and PASS Center for Practice-based Art Studies (Denmark) continue to evolve with a renewed focus on applying the network’s shared knowledge within our own structures, exploring concrete ways to turn theory into practice.
